Friday 03/05/19 #19 -Random Setting
03/05/2019
"No matter where you go, there you are." I first heard this in the cult classic Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension. We are always aware of our setting in life, through our physical senses and emotions. This week that's what I'll start you off with, a list of settings. Choose one at random and drop in some characters. Give them goals and needs, then block them with issues. Stir the pot, and write a story - 1000 words max. Dues noonish, Friday, May 10th. Image from here.
Number | Setting |
1 | It's midnight. There's a band of heavy cloud. You're on board a ship. There's a charming feel to the place. |
2 | It's late afternoon. There's a storm brewing. You're in an aeroplane. There's a barren feel to the place. |
3 | It's noon. There's bright sunshine. You're high up in a mountain. There's a creepy feel to the place. |
4 | It's twilight. There's a mist rolling in. You're in the countryside. There's an electrifying feel to the place. |
5 | It's mid-afternoon. There's light snow falling. You're in the grounds of a country estate. There's a lonely feel to the place. |
6 | It's mid-morning. There's a hazy, humid atmosphere. You're in a city park. There's a bustling feel to the place. |
Hopefully, I can post in time this morning, but I might be running a bit late. My story is on its way though!

That's okay, I'll be late too. I usually start mid-week, but I've been having intermittent vertigo - mild but annoying and slows me down. Physio on Monday.

I hope you feel better very soon, Mike. Keep me posted. Finally finished mine. It's called Patience. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the ending, but maybe it shouldn't end - not yet, anyway. I'm going to let it stand though.

Here's my story - finished just after noon, but need a bio break and another coffee. Dizziness in abeyance as I wrote - no time for it?? I like this one, and will print a copy to take to my local in case the owner gives me a free beer.
